Content Management System Programmer

Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications
Full or Part Time: Full-time
Key Role and Responsibilities:
Links Media is currently looking for a Content Management System Programmer who also has a strong information architecture background. Our ideal candidate will build, redesign and maintain web and mobile sites, develop online, mobile and Facebook applications and features, for our Communication Production Services Division projects.

Location of the Job: Gaithersburg, MD but we will also consider telecommuting from anywhere in the U.S., provided the candidate is able to travel for in person meetings
Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree and 4+ years of experience
- Microsoft .NET Framework, ASP.NET, VB.NET, Ruby on Rails, Drupal
- SQL Server Design and Architecture
- Strong front end development skills (HTML5, CSS, Javascript, Ajax)
- Web Services, XML, SOAP
- Experience working with Third Party API’s
- Strong understanding of Design Patterns and Object Oriented Programming
- Project management and architecture capabilities necessary
- Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer.
What you will be doing:
- Manage and lead the development process of various projects
- Work on Product/Website Enhancements
- Design and Develop high traffic web applications
- FLC Development Process
- Stay current with emerging technologies and be able to promote their usage
- Define architecture and provide development road maps
- Provide expertise, lead technical meetings, and communicate effectively
- Design and develop of CMS, CRM, E-commerce, B2B Applications
Specifically, you will working on:
- Redesigned easily and cost-effectively upgradeable websites.
- Developing and deploying Web Content Management Systems
- IA and UX
- Browser testing
- developing American’s With Disability Act (ADA) Priority 1 requirements compliant web sites
- Expanding features of CMS, customizing features; RSS, Calendars, videos and slide show integration, internal search, key word forms, site maps, etc.
- Database design, form creation
Required knowledge and experience of:
- jQuery
- Knowledge of Web Services, using WS-*and/or REST techniques
- Basic to intermediate understanding of Linux
- Experience preferred in Joomla CMS, Ruby On Rails, Drupal, XHTML, JavaScript, PHP
- Analyzing sites; and using user-based research to design the site and its features.
- Securing client approval of new design and page templates following an interactive process of changes and redesigns.
- Working with client to determine a new information architecture to support the client’s interpretation of easy navigation.
- Participating in public processes such as open comments and meetings, using the results as part of the redesign process.
- Providing options for at least three (3) arrangements of menus and services.
- Training client’s web staff and site administrators
- Training client’s non-technical staff
- Providing technical training to client’s IT support staff
- Providing maintenance and support of websites
Knowledge and experience with the following are a plus:
- Mobile applications
- Integrating various interactive modules
- Request tracker (CSR System)
- Sitewide push for emergency notifications
- Developing Facebook apps
- Personal profile page integrated into CMS DataBase
Must be proficient in building PHP web-based features and applications from the ground up, as well as modifying and building upon existing code. He/she is expected to plan, research, and develop code logic, as well as test and deploy several projects with minimal supervision.
Communications and interpersonal skills required:
- Ability to communicate with internal customers clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to organize, prioritize and perform multiple job tasks simultaneously.
- Uses experience and good judgment to plan tasks and projects.
- Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment.
- Ability to troubleshoot applications.
