Environmental Education Outreach Specialist (2 openings)

Location: Greater Los Angeles, CA
Salary: $50,000-$70,000 depending upon experience
Full or Part Time: Full-time
Job Description:Links Media is recruiting for two full-time Environmental Education Outreach Specialists to be based in Los Angeles, CA to work on a K-6 environmental education program. The positions will report to a Project Manager as part of a greater team of outreach specialists, serving the program and the greater Los Angeles communities.
Key Role and Responsibilities:
Includes the following and other duties as assigned:
- Contribute to the development of a training program to educate students and teachers in key environmental issues related to waste removal, recycling, and water in Los Angeles
- Develop a long-term schedule for conducting school assemblies throughout LA
- Execute 2-4 of these assemblies each day and conduct a post-survey evaluation
- Conduct occasional weekend-events educating the public on selected environmental issues
- Submit timely progress reports
Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience:
- Bachelor Degree in Education or an environmental field is required
- 3 -years environmental-related public education and outreach experience
- 3-years of public speaking and experience educating the K-6 audience
- Experience conducting school assemblies for a minimum of 75 students
- Ability to travel on a daily basis within the greater LA metro area.
- Knowledge of recycling, waste removal, and water policy issues
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
- High level of proficiency in MS Office applications.
- Strong organizational skills that demonstrates a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) are a plus.
