SAIDI Study
The use and misuse of antibiotics and other antimicrobial medications has become a worldwide concern because of antimicrobial drug resistance in the fight against infectious diseases such as HIV/AIDS, diarrheal diseases, tuberculosis, malaria, staphylococcus aureus, and streptococcus pneumoniae. Under a contract from the U.S. Agency for International Development, Links Media studied the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of doctors, pharmacists, and consumers in Peru and Paraguay regarding the prescription, sale, and consumption of antibiotics and other medications.
